Finnish Nature

Finland has quite a low ratio of inhabitants relative to land mass. Because of this there are vaste uninhabited areas where the landscape remains untouched. In addition, as Finland has very diverse features - ranging from the small islands on the south and southwestern coast, to the thousands of lakes in central Finland, and all the way to the mountains and tundra of Lappland - there are superb possibilities for nature photography. Here are some beautiful pictures of untouched Finnish nature.

The large swamps of central Finland are much more interesting than they sound. If you plan on visiting them duruing the summer, however, prepare yourself for the millions of mosquitos.

Take a dog sled ride through the tundra of Lappland in the winter. The scenery is amazing as is the ride.

Although agriculture is seen by many as becoming a dying trade in 21st centure Finland, wheat fields are abundant in the Finnish countryside.

You haven't experienced true winter unless you have experienced the Finnish winter. Starting in November it lasts until May in many parts of the country and you'll feel like it never ends.
